Lenasia Wolves FC was established in Lenasia, a township in the south of Johannesburg, in 2005. The founders of the club had a vision to create a vehicle for football aimed at youth participation in soccer, irrespective of a child's skill, ability or experience. SOCCER FOR ALL was the motto. Lenasia Wolves is unique in that it seeks to use football as a medium to bring communities together, so the focus is not on winning matches at all cost. Rather it is about kids of all backgrounds coming together united by their love of football, as well as of parents giving of their time and energy to benefit not only their own kids, but all the kids of the Lenasia community and beyond.
Lenasia Wolves FC started off with only 3 teams in 2005 and training was conducted 3 times a week on a tiny patch of grass in the Signet Terrace complex thanks to permission kindly given to the club by the management of the Signet Terrace centre.
Over the years the club has battled numerous difficulties but through the unshifting dedication and sheer effort of the club officials and parents, the club has grown from strength to strength. This year (2010) Lenasia Wolves can proudly say that we have in excess of 130 players and 12 teams, who train regularly on the Wolves FC home grounds situated in Topaz Street, Lenasia Extension 5.
So feel free to visit us during our training days. We would love to welcome you to our family.
There are many people, particularly in sports, who think success and excellence is the same thing, but they are mistaken. Excellence is something that is lasting and dependable and largely within a persons control. In contrast, success is perishable and is often outside of our control. If you strive for excellence, you will probably be successful eventually. People who put excellence as first priority have the patience to end up with success. An additional burden for the victim of the success mentality is that he/she is threatened by the success of others and resents real excellence. In contrast, the person fascinated by quality is excited when he/she sees it in others.
